SOL is Tim Lacey,
an artist with 30 years experience in
the creative realm, evolving from music
composition and production, to film
direction, editing, and creative design
on the moving screen.

His increasingly influential need for
creative exploration, immaculate detail,
structure and cleanliness have driven
him to create his own aesthetic.

The result? Imagery that conforms to
his own ideal of high-end, quality pieces
that are painstakingly and obsessively
designed and built.

Started as a personal project to create something clean,
original and flawless for himself, SOL’s ‘Parallax Shift
artworks are the result of years of research and
experimentation, effectively evolving into an entirely
new style of highly engineered mixed media art.

Taking his experience in film direction, editing and design,
SOL has combined his love for immersive film techniques with
contemporary wall-art. Through his use of actual physical
depth, he has created a stunning set of images that appear
to float in space, drawing viewers in and giving them a
different experience from every angle.

The pieces celebrate both modern and traditional reference
points. Originally inspired by British late 80’s and 90’s rave
culture, SOL has discovered the medium lends itself perfectly
to well recognised iconography from around the world.

SOL’s art uses materials that are traditionally
manufactured for large scale industry. With
an unwavering commitment to producing the
cleanest possible finish, all SOL’s pieces are
produced using high-end industrial
techniques which are repurposed and
redesigned specifically for each project.

From calculating precise laser to material
tolerance with zero percent error margin to
reproducing totemic ecstasy tablets with a
pharmaceutical grade pill press, every work
has its’s own journey to production, and a
story to match.

The end result has to be seen
to be fully understood.
